Yes, I would be willing to start the project by making the background image and adding my character.

  1. Look at the picture that is attached to the email you received.
  2. Decide how you want your elf in this picture (one elf per participant, please).
  3. Draw and colour your elf in any manner you choose, then scan it.
  4. Copy and paste your elf onto the picture. Make sure you use the 'magic colour wand' tool if you have one so that the white spaces around your picture are not copied (you may need to turn anti-aliasing off).
  5. If necessary, rescale your picture so that it fits the size of the rest of the picture. Please don't make your elf twice as big as the others.
  6. Save your picture as .BMP (Windows Bitmap format) and make sure it is saved as 24-bit colour format.
  7. Return the newly updated image to . If the image has not been returned by the due date, it will be sent to the next person on the list regardless.

Too little time to do your picture:
Email me ASAP to have your name moved further down the participant list and be revisited at a later date.

You don't know how to copy and paste your picture into the scene:
Locate the 'magic wand' tool on your graphics program; it is likely under the 'selection' menu options. This tool allows you to select a whole area of one colour. Click the white space around your picture and then from the selection menu, choose 'invert selection' so that only your character is selected. Then simply copy and paste the character into the MAP image and resize as needed.

TIP: If you find you still get an edging of white space around the outside of your selected character, try turning off anti-aliasing on the magic wand tool - this is usually found on the tools options palette.

For any other problems:
If you experience problems with opening the file, saving it in the right format or copying and pasting your picture, email me ASAP so that the problem can be swiftly solved. If you cannot add your character into the MAP image yourself, you may email your character's picture to me with instructions on where to place your elf and I will add him/her into the image for you.
