Clothes:
A light sand coloured top cropped to just below her ribs, ending in a point at the front, which is held up around the neck with a small magenta tie around her back, leaving most of it bare. It is combined with a short, dark magenta coloured skirt wrapped around her waist and held tight with a sand coloured belt. The skirt hangs low on her waist so her midriff is bare. She usually goes barefooted, but wears dark magenta moccasins when the occasion calls for it.

Role Play

Personality:
Birchbark was a rather shy and insecure cub who often seemed a bit of a loner but never to the extent of being anti-social. She has a quiet personality on the whole and is certainly not extravagent or hyperactive but she can have her moments of melancholy or the occasional flare of temper, although she manages to keep these in check most of the time and as such is usually cheerful and a bit of a flirt. Nevertheless, she is vain in a moderate manner, rather stubborn when it suits her purpose and prone to sulking when she doesn't get her way.

Her greatest fear is of being gorged or trampled to death by a dangerous animal, after having witnessed her mother's gruesome fate at the tusks of a boar. As such, she chooses to focus on fishing more than hunting and her preferred weapon is the bow, which she uses to keep a safe distance from dangerous prey. Her extreme use of the weapon has gained her superb skill at it and she is one of the most accomplished archers in the tribe.

She has a very close relationship with her older brother Rock and knows that she is blessed with such a large extended family, which has helped some since her parents' deaths. Over the years her self-confidence has grown, boosted especially by her becoming a fully trained midwife and her lovemating to Colorcast. Birchbark enjoys quiet evenings by the river where she can often be found fishing or collecting reeds for her basket weaving.

History:
Birchbark found her soul name at a fairly young age, discovering she was to be a midwife. Upon returning to the holt she took her adult name, Birchbark, and began apprenticing her midwifery skills through the elder, more knowledgeable women in the tribe, most notably Smokepath and Firemoss. Having delivered Beechnut without any aid, she was deemed a fully fledged midwife.

She suffered a rather severe trauma when her mother Crystal was attacked by an ill tempered bristle boar during a game of Taal and was gored. Birchbark had only recently entered the ranks of the adults and it was her first game of Taal. She and her mother had stuck together so Crystal could help her out a bit. All Birchbark could do was scramble into a tree to save herself, and when the boar finally left it was too late and Crystal had died. Birchbark took the three feathers from her mother's hair and for many turns wore them in a necklace as one of her dearest possessions.

Birchbark had always been drawn towards the bow, but since the day her mother was killed she will only use other weapons as a last resource, preferring to keep a safe distance from any dangerous prey. And while she enjoys fishing for both its safety and peacefulness, she has not stopped hunting altogether, recognizing the need to face your fears rather than avoid them. As such, after avoiding it for a long time, she eventually participated in Highbelt's Hunt, thereby ridding herself of much of her fear of hunting large prey, though she is still not fully comfortable with it.

Birchbark and Rock's relationship is very deep, and they feel they understand each other as no one else truly does, constantly supporting each other even though their personalities are quite different. Like her brother, Birchbark is given to moments of flirtation when she's feeling in the mood for it and has no special preference for men or women. Her cubhood friendship with Colorcast developed into love, and the two have been lovemates for several years now, though neither of them objects to sharing.

When one of her baskets disintegrated on her, Birchbark suddenly realised that no one had taken up basket weaving since Shadowglen's death, and since her midwifery is not often required, she started learning the skill herself. Progress on this was slow and frustrating, but she considered it a personal triumph when she finally managed to produce a useable basket and it now graces her den as a token of her accomplishment. She has become happier with her new-found purpose and feels she is more useful to the tribe now that she has a skill that is both needed by everyone and is called on more often than midwifery. Having learned the basics, she has progressed to adding patterns and developing new and different weaves.

Tiptail is a born fighter, being the only surviving cub after a particularly harsh winter. He has fought his way up from Omega status and continues to climb in the ranks. With maturity he has become slightly more aggressive, a trait only enhanced by his continuing fights up in the pack. He can even be snappish at Birchbark herself sometimes, at which times she'll leave him be until he has calmed down again and is more sociable.
