Role Play
Personality:
Obviously committed to her tribe, Wildstar has gradually grown comfortable with her position of chieftess after the role was suddenly thrust upon her following her mother's death and father's disappearance. Having struggled to find a balance between authority and compassion, her time as tribal leader has provided her with deeper insights into her people than all her time growing up in the holt previously, and she now feels that she often walks the fine lines necessary to her duties with ease. There are still times in her chieftainship that cause her strife of course, such as losing a member of the tribe or those few who choose to disregard tribe laws or her word, but Wildstar has come to accept that one must take the good with the bad and persevere through. When things become too much for her to bare, she finds solace in the wisdom and comfort of Firemoss, her mother's soul sister who has all but become a mother to Wildstar herself since her parents' demise and disappearance.
Treasures:
Her first spear made for her by her father, Soulseeker. Her annual early New Flood trips with Firemoss to make tree sugar, learned from her mother, is an exceptionally special time for her filled with fond memories. An old russet-coloured kerchief made of woven leather she used to wear before the chieflock.
History:
Wildstar regarded her cubhood as relatively calm but now as chief realizes that assumption was the bliss of youthful ignorance. Her parent's chieftainship was rocky and uncertain at times but in general things went well for the tribe. She spent her years learning the spear, her favourite weapon, and learning to hunt and fish. Her father, Soulseeker, also quietly guided her in the ways of chieftainship, despite Wildstar's self-consciousness at the idea and responsibilities of leadership.
Fate happened one day, as it must, when Land Lopers clashed in combat against the Sky Singers close to the elves' territory. Wildstar's mother, Woodshine, was caught in its midst while trying to escape, and subsequently killed. The reverent Sky Singers drove off the Land Lopers and claimed Woodshine's body, frantic at what such an event would forebode from the spirits they so closely worshipped, and in an effort to right wrongs, they brought Woodshine's lifeless body back to their village for their Shamaness to tend to and try to appease the spirits for the tradegy. Distraught for her mother's death, Wildstar wanted to follow Soulseeker to retrieve Woodshine's body, but the elder elf would not allow it. His mysterious disappearance after Woodshine's howl further distressed the young and grieving Wildstar, but try as they might, the tribe could not find their lost chief or his wolf-friend. Thus the leadership of the tribe fell to Wildstar, who at first refused to accept her destiny in the wild hopes that her father would return, afraid that to take his place was to admit he was lost to her forever. Woodshine's soul sister, Firemoss, took Wildstar into her equally grieving heart, providing her with much-needed support and would later prove to be something of a replacement mother for the young chieftess. When Wildstar finally conceded to the reality of the situation, it was with a heavy heart and a newly seeded sense of abandonment that would continue to haunt her throughout her life thereafter.
Unbeknownst to Wildstar or Dreamberry, both women had a secret admirer in Rock. After much deliberation on the hunter's behalf and prodding from his sister, Rock confessed his love and quickly found himself lovemated with a more than willing Dreamberry. Wildstar, however, was not prepared for this turn of events and taken off her guard, stubbornly refused to three-mate with them, despite their frequent requests. Privately, Wildstar felt something of a loss that Dreamberry was now denning with Rock, having enjoyed her soul sister's presence for centuries. It wasn't until some seasons later and after an excess amount of especially potent (and perhaps tampered with) batch of dreamberry wine at a Dance of Joining that Wildstar changed her mind on the pair and finally conscent to sharing her life with both of them. The decision ultimately proved to be a good one, as she had her dear soul sister back with her again and Rock lavished great amounts of attention and adoration upon her and Dreamberry.
Storm Rage of 1769 made a dramatic change to the young chieftess' life, however. Out on her annual scouting trip to observe the returning Land Lopers to the canyon forests, Wildstar suffered a near fatal accident when the cliff she was standing on crumbled beneath her feet. Only Lonewolf's quick reflexes saved her from plummeting to her death - and in that blinding, panicked moment, Recognition struck. Aghast, Lonewolf initially recoiled, having felt the sting of an ill-fated Recognition in his past, but Wildstar quickly subcombed to the force and while she unlocked the shadowy secrets Lonewolf had long guarded within himself, she accepted him and coaxed him to likewise accept her. While the couple easily met the physical demands, there were emotional hurdles to overcome, namely Wildstar having to tell her lovemates, especially Rock, who took the news far worse than Wildstar or even Dreamberry had feared and left the tribe with Duskwater at his side. Once again Wildstar found solace in Firemoss' words and comfort and she and Lonewolf muddled through the somewhat initially awkward lifemating, concern and a measure of guilt over Rock and Duskwater's unknown fates silently eating away at her.
Then, only a turn later, disaster swept through the holt on the scent of whitestripe. The wolf pack suddenly fell ill - terribly ill. The eldest of the tribe recalled a previous such sickness; one that took both elfin and wolf lives, and actions were taken to seal the tribe's most vulnerable against the threat of death in the Elder Tree - cubs, healer and an unwilling pregnant chieftess. While fearing for the safety of her unborn cubling, Wildstar was furious at the elders' challenge of her leadership, but confined to a sealed den could do little against the betrayal. Without a healer, the tribe relied on Firemoss and her fellow herbalists to combat the disease but herb stores were low during the winter. Wolves began to die - horribly - and then in a terrifying moment a hand of the tribe itself fell ill, including Lonewolf. The surge of grief, worry, rage and a host of similarly roiling emotions raked at the chieftess constantly, unable to physically do anything to help her people, unable to even offer a hand of support. When the sickness finally ran its course and subsided, half the wolf pack was lost and several wolves remained scarred in various fashions, although the stricken elves pulled through. Thought immensely relieved, Wildstar's teeth were no less dull upon being freed, and in the manner of the wolf pack laws, she set the elders who had rallied against her straight and into their places just as Howler would have done an upstart pup.
As the turns passed and Wildstar grew heavy with child, the prospect of motherhood also began to weigh increasingly upon her, having never fully prepared herself for such a role despite her leadership of the tribe; her fears of her father's abandonment once again began to surface surrounding her own ability to be a parent. Lonewolf, however, was her rock through it all. His silent strength supported her both from within and without, before the tribe and in the privacy of their den. And when the cub decided it was finally time to come at an ill-timed moment beyond the holt proper, Lonewolf and Firemoss helped a slightly panicked Wildstar bear the tribe's next chieftess into the world.
